During this walk of faith, I have found community, love, and most importantly: I found myself again.
I was born and raised a Christian. I faced a lot of adversity growing up. When I turned 14, my parents divorced and I was moved from my hometown to the big city. I didn’t fit in. I stopped following God. During high school, I became addicted to sex and other secular vices; also facing a lot of adversity in life still. It culminated in my attempt to take my life. I was filled with despair and hatred, I didn’t even value my own existence anymore. I wanted the pain to end.
But, Jesus saved my life. I received a vision of myself falling into a deep, dark abyss. I was plummeting and thinking to myself “I wanted to die, now I’m going to hell.” But right before I hit the bottom, I stopped falling and a bright light flashed in front of me. Jesus was there, and he told me “You don’t have to die because I already did.”
I found my way to Atlanta Bethel Church and began attending online Bible study program with Pastor Thomas. It really helped me to grow in faith and pull myself out of the hole I was. All of the stories and lessons really resonated deep within me, and I slowly began to change. During this walk of faith, I have found community, love, and most importantly: I found myself again. Anyone who has stopped following God, or who never has attended church, I would recommend you at the very minimum give it a shot. It takes patience and dedication, but the grace you receive is a huge blessing and you may find yourself changed, just like I was.
